Forum on Board Governance and NGO Challenges: Hong Kong Experience and UK Insights

Introduction

In response to the increasing demand on public accountability of NGOs, HKCSS is embarking on different capacity building activities to promote NGO board governance and social welfare development. In the forum, HKCSS is bringing together a research on board-level recruitment challenges and the report-back of a study visit to UK on board governance. Details of the research and the report-back are as follows:
-Under the support of HKU ExCEL3, HKCSS is now conducting a study on the topic of "Board-Level Recruitment and Retention Strategies among Nonprofits in Hong Kong”. In the forum, initial finding on the landscape of board-level talent demand will be shared. Board members are invited to share their experience on board-level recruitment challenges. 
-Sponsored by the Community Chest, delegates of NGOs were sent to UK in November 2015 to attend the NCVO/BWB Trustee Conference 2015* cum Study Visit on Capacity Building for NGOs Governance. In the forum, insights from the conference and study visit will be shared by the delegates.
