Project Management – Requirement Management

Introduction

What is Requirements?

A requirement is a capability to which a project outcome (product or service)should conform. Conformation to requirements is the key to project successand customer satisfaction.

What is Requirement Management?

Requirements Management is the process of documenting, analyzing, tracing, prioritizing, communicating and agreeing on project requirements and controlling of subsequent changes. It is a continuous process throughout a project performed by the project team in communications with major stakeholders.

Why Requirement Management is essential to project success of NGOs?

A clear, well-understood and committed requirement list is the foundation of project success. However, getting the right requirements is easier said than done even in non-profit organizations. It is a challenge for most business or operations representatives to express their needs and expectations clearly to a project team. For what they could express, there are risks of misinterpretation and miscommunication among project team members. Finally, how does the team ensure that the total requirements has been collected and analyzed? To achieve that, this workshop introduces best practices that will facilitate the project team to articulate its understanding of the full requirements and secure the commitment to stated requirements from major stakeholders.
