System approach: Pain management for older persons living in nursing homes

Content

This workshop aims at providing health care professional with understanding of pain situations, effects of pain among the older persons and ways to managing pain problems as a routine client care.  Participants will understand the prevalence of pain and pain-related problems among older persons living in nursing homes; knowing pain assessment and pain management strategies; illustrating physical exercises, multisensory stimulation, and art therapy as non-pharmacological strategies in pain management.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Dr Tse teaches nurses in undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is the programme leader for Master of Science in Nursing. Her research interests include health promotion and interventional strategies to enhance quality of living and quality of life for older persons, healthy ageing, elderly safety, long-term care, pain management and E-learning and online learning.
