The Many Faces of Depression:Assessment and Treatment of Different types of Depressive Disorders

Introduction

Depression is often perceived as a single and homogenous condition when in actual clinical practice, depression manifests itself in many different forms.  A systemic and comprehensive assessment is required to identify the type of depression so treatment can effectively address the condition.

This 1-day course will include a comprehensive coverage on the assessment of different depressive disorders and an overview of evidence-based treatments for depression. Effective treatment strategies tailored for different depressive disorders will be covered. An introduction of the conceptualization and treatment of depression using an Emotion Focused Therapy approach will be covered.

Ms Natalie Tong is an experienced trainer who has conducted over 100 training workshops/seminars. She is a Registered Psychologist who has worked extensively with adults suffering from various kinds of psychiatric disorders and has trained social workers, nurses, and other health professionals in working with this population. She provides psychotherapy, supervision, and training in her private practice. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the United States and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She received her training in clinical psychology and is an Associate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and an Associate Member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS). She is also an Approved Supervisor with the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA).
