Fundraising Planning and Management

Introduction

In order to be sustainable, social service organizations need to find and diversify the funding source. This course helps social work practitioners to identify different ways of fundraising to enhance their organisations’ fundraising capability. It is designed for social work practitioners who would like to equip and advance their practical skills on fundraising.

Objective

1. To introduce the fundraising planning cycle and it’s applications at agency level
2. To describe the concept and application on donor relations management and it’s relation to fund raising sustainability
3. To introduce typical fundraising tools with NGO examples

Ms So hosts Master Degree in New Media, and Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management Course in Harvard Business School.

Ms So joined the Hong Kong Red Cross in 1990 participating in different major services and promoted to Secretary General in 2015 leading 1,300 staff members and 22,000 volunteers. She has been involving in a wide range of disaster relief and reconstruction projects all over the world. She is a member of the Field Assessment and Coordination Team (FACT) of the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the founding member of the IFRC Asia Pacific Fundraisers’ Network.

In 2006, Ms So was awarded The Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong. In 2012, she established the Face-to-Face Monthly Giving Alliance in Hong Kong as founding Chairperson. Currently, she is the Vice Chairman of the Steering Committee on Work in Mainland China of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), and the member of its Executive Committee. She is the Consultant of the Association Concerning Sexual Violence Against Women, Advisor of the InspiringHK Sports Foundation, and the member of the RTHK program Advisory Panel.

Winnie has 20 years of experience in the field of marketing, project development and event management in sizable non-profit organization. She is experienced in the development and marketing strategies in promotion and coordination of public exhibitions and fundraising campaigns. She currently serves at Hong Kong Red Cross, taking charge of the department to develop fundraising strategies, including driving of fundraising campaigns, enhancement of donor loyalty and relationship building, and to maintain a high standard of accountability to donors.

Certificates
1. "Certificate in Fundraising for NGOs” will be issued by the HKCSS Institute to participants who have fully completed 24 hours PLUS participated in project presentation (session 4.5). Attending hours of session 4.5 will not be counted.
2. Attendance Certificates will be issued to participants upon completion of each individual whole session.
