Introduction

Providing new services to meet the changing community needs has become a regular management function in most NGOs so that they can serve the community better. In the process of providing a new service, planning is considered crucial as it is an essential management step to determine the direction, the scope as well as the action.

Objective

To provide participants with practical concepts of planning and preparation in relation to providing new services

Content

• The practical concepts of planning new services regarding rationale and external and internal dynamic analysis
• A practical framework in planning and starting new services
• Financial consideration and budgeting, manpower, expertise building and evaluation method
• Preparation of a preliminary service proposal with idea consolidated into written format
• Case sharing and discussion

Mrs. YUK , Helina 沃馮嬿琼女士
Mrs Helina Yuk is the Former Director of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lady MacLehose Centre, leading the agency for 18 years to develop different new and innovative service projects catering for the needs of the disadvantaged community. She has extensive experience in social welfare agency administration and has worked with different government and private funding bodies to provide various pilot and evidence-based services for the deprived targets. Mrs. Yuk is now serving as a guest lecturer at the Social Work Department of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Recently, she also established a non-profit organization "Social Work Mission" to promote the professionalism of social work.
