Sesson 3: Performance Management

Objective

Human Resources Management is one of the major concerns in corporate management and NGO governance. Its function has been extended to a horizon that every staff carrying supervisory duties carries the duties of HRM as well. HKCSS Institute has organized a series of training workshops in HRM for equipping the staff with managerial and supervisory duties with aims as follows:
1. to provide a skill-set for supervisors in handling daily HR issues within the department;
2. to equip and strengthen the role of supervisors with HR knowledge;
3. to enable the supervisors to co-work with the HR department smoothly and effectively.

1. Effective performance management practices;
2. Different approaches in PMS and their merits;
3. Conducting a motivating performance appraisal;
4. Working with HR Department

Retired Human Resources Management Practitioner
Mr Lam was a seasoned human resources management practitioner for over 30 years before his retirement in 2014. His extensive human resources management experience encompasses different industries including construction, real estate, telecommunication, trading and finance, and different cultural background. Mr Lam has been conducting management related training courses and as voluntary committee member for various NGOs since the early 90s. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management in which he served at various time as the Vice President, Member of the Executive Council, co-Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee and member of various committees. At present, he is a Honorary Assistant Professor teaching people management course at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the University of Hong Kong.
