The Power of Employee Engagement

Introduction

Successful organizations realize their employees are one of the most important resources that can assist the organization in creating a sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace. Employee knowledge generates new products, services and solutions. Employee behaviors can facilitate improved user service and lead to user loyalty. And employee attitudes can enhance the overall work experience for others in the organization, including the desire to work hard, help colleagues and maintain positive working relations. Thus, employees can and do contribute to the organization’s ability to succeed. Maximizing employee potential, however, requires more than well-intentioned leaders. It requires an ongoing commitment to the concept of employee engagement.

Today, employee engagement is no longer the responsibility solely for the Human Resources team. To put it into practice and to be successful, it is a strategy that needs to be integrated across functions within an organization. Motivating and driving a culture of employee engagement in an organization is crucial. It can be a powerful force to achieve organizational goals. The HR Forum for NGOs 2011 will bring together the human resources professionals from business sectors and leaders from NGOs to share insights and strategies on employee engagement.
