Understanding and Treating Clients with Personality Disorder(s) (Class 1)

Objective

There is a growing demand in the field of mental health for frontline clinicians to work with adults with personality disorders. Working with people who suffer from personality disorders can be a big challenge even to the most seasoned clinicians.  The repeated suicide attempts, the anger outbursts and the instability of individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder puzzle frontline clinicians and can exhaust the resources of an entire counseling team. This 2-day training workshop will focus on enhancing the clinician’s ability to assess for these conditions and to apply effective interventions in treatment. Practical strategies in handling difficult counseling situations with this populations will also be covered

●   Introduction to Personality Disorder

      - Assessment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)

      - Childhood background and attachment style of BPD

●   Suicide Crisis Management of BPDCommon Clinical Issues of BPD

●  Management of common treatment issues of BPD

Ms Natalie Tong is an experienced trainer who has conducted over 100 training workshops/seminars. She is a Registered Psychologist who has worked extensively with adults suffering from various kinds of psychiatric disorders and has trained social workers, nurses, and other health professionals in working with this population. She provides psychotherapy, supervision, and training in her private practice. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the United States and a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She received her training in clinical psychology and is an Associate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and an Associate Member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS). She is also an Approved Supervisor with the Hong Kong Professional Counselling Association (HKPCA).
