Objective

With a combination of lecture, experiential activities, games, case study sharing, exercises, action planning and role-plays of tailor-made NGO workplace scenarios, the course aims to let participants to:

  • Understand the role of manager in coaching and performance management
  • Enhance skills in communicating performance expectations & standards to employees
  • Learn to motivate self and others to higher performance according to their leadership style

Content

1. Leadership

  • Understand the expectation, role & responsibilities of a leader
  • Explore the issues, difficulties and challenges faced by a leader
  • The leader as a coach 

2. Performance Evaluation with Coaching and Counselling Skills

  • How to prepare for the appraisal and coaching process
  • Techniques of staff-self evaluation
  • Give constructive feedback; follow-up and monitor the improvement process 

3. Case study on Coaching Subordinates

  • Identify signals from staff when a problem arises
  •  "7-Sin” exercise on "staff problems”
  • Positive Responding Method
  • Professionally Say "No” Method
