【FULL】"S+ Summit cum Expo 2025" Concurrent Sessions -《Empowering People, Sustaining Impact: Tailoring Talent Strategies for a Dynamic Workforce》
Introduction
The rapid changes in society, economy, and environment, coupled with major challenges such as demographic shifts, economic restructuring, extreme weather, and the technological revolution, present both significant challenges and golden opportunities for Hong Kong. In the face of these circumstances, we have to work with various sectors in the society, adopt innovative thinking and solutions, to build a sustainable and livable Hong Kong.
For over seventy years, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) has been rooted in the social welfare sector while connecting community, business, government, academia, and other sectors in creating social impact. On May 20th and 21st this year, HKCSS will host the "S+ Summit cum Expo" at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, bringing together over 6,000 stakeholders from different sectors to discuss local and regional social issues under the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Approximately 160 social welfare organisations, social enterprises, and impact businesses will showcase their effective solutions in response to social problems. HKCSS hope that "S+" can promote stakeholder collaboration (Synergy), create social impact (Social Impact), and promote Hong Kong's sustainable development (Sustainability).

The social service sector is navigating an increasingly complex landscape marked by evolving workforce dynamics and operational pressures. Today’s workforce is more diverse than ever, with five distinct generations bringing unique perspectives, values, and skills. While this diversity enriches organisations, it also presents unprecedented challenges. It demands that we adapt to varying work-life expectations and professional aspirations. At the same time, non-profit organisations must balance limited resources with the need to maintain high-quality services and respond to shifting community needs.
This interplay of challenges creates multifaceted dynamics where organisations need to enhance efficiency and service delivery, while employees pursue the fulfillment of their diverse workplace expectations. How can we redefine our talent strategies to better align organisational objectives with workforce expectations? What changes in infrastructure, culture, and leadership are essential to foster an environment where diverse talents not only thrive but also deliver quality services effectively?
This session brings together cross-sectoral speakers to share insights and uncover the realities of these changing workforce dynamics. Through experience sharing and open dialogue, it will also explore the essential support needed from all stakeholders in nurturing talents and strengthening the social services workforce.
This session welcomes professionals in human resources, organisational development, leadership, and workforce planning, as well as non-profit leaders, policymakers, and anyone passionate about talent development in the social service sector.
