Against the background that there is a general lack of trained managers with business perspective to operate social enterprises (SE), this programme aims to equip social enterprise practitioners and other executives planning to start social business with business knowledge and operational skills in running SE.

HKCSS is invited by The Commission on Poverty, HKSAR Government to form a consultancy team to develop and implement this training programme. This consultancy team is composed of scholars of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University and The University of Hong Kong and representatives of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service.

Characteristics of the Programme

1.Case study approach to analyze various aspects of social enterprise such as governance, management, marketing strategies etc.;

2.A mentorship scheme to bridge in-class training with real-life application of business knowledge;

3.Curriculum developed by drawing reference to similar course of overseas universities with consideration of local characteristics;

4.A cross-disciplinary training curriculum enabling students to learn business skills with a social angle;

5.Guest speakers of SME and SE field sharing practical experiences in running business.
