Certificate in Fundraising for NGOs (Full)

Introduction

In order to be sustainable, social service organisations need to find and diversify the funding source. This course helps social work practitioners to formulate their fundraising strategy and identify different ways of fundraising to enhance their organisations’ fundraising capability. It is designed for NGO practitioners who would like to expand their knowledge and advance their practical skills on fundraising.

Objective

  • To introduce the fundraising strategic plan and its planning cycle
  • To describe the concept and application on donor relations management and it’s relation to network building and sustainability
  • To introduce typical fundraising tools with NGO examples
  • Certificates

  • Certificate in Fundraising for NGOs” will be issued by the HKCSS Institute to full certificate participants who enrolled for the full certificate programme, including sessions 1, 2, 3 & 8 and have attended at least 80% out of the total hours of training enrolled.
  • Attendance certificates for individual sessions will be issued to participants who have attended 80% of the training hours required.

    Dr. Siu Kanie, DBA, MBA, MSSDS 蕭美娟博士

    Kanie is an expert fundraiser, marketer and administrator. She spent 10 years working in commercial sectors before joining Oxfam Hong Kong (OHK) in 1998, where she helped pioneer the application of various skills to the non-governmental organization sector. She became the agency’s Hong Kong Unit Director in 2011, overseeing its fundraising, communications, poverty alleviation programmes, advocacy and development education. In 2013, Kanie was named OHK’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, a role in which she became responsible for fundraising, communications and branding strategies in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Mainland China. In 2015, she was appointed CEO of Plan International Hong Kong. She has been conducting fundraising trainings and sharing of development issues at universities and with various NGOs in both Hong Kong and Mainland China. With her contribution to the poverty alleviation work in the developing countries and her support to the philanthropic markets in both Hong Kong and Mainland China, Kanie was awarded as one of the 2nd World Outstanding Young Leaders by Yazhou Zhoukan in 2017.

    Wilfred oversees the resources and relationship development for The Salvation Army in Hong Kong and Macau. He was originally trained as a biochemist and worked in the scientific field for a number of years before joining the non-profit sector. For the past 11 years, he has served in various sized local and international non-profit organizations responsible for public education, fundraising, central administration and project management. Wilfred was previously general manager of Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer’s Disease, focusing on dementia care and education.

    Wilfred graduated from the University of London with a BSc (Hons) and the University of Hong Kong an MPhil, both in biochemistry, and the University of Manchester an MBA. He has given guest lectures on fundraising, grant application and social marketing at the HKCSS Institute and various local higher education institutions.

    Winnie has 20 years of experience in the field of marketing, project development and event management in sizable non-profit organization. She is experienced in the development and marketing strategies in promotion and coordination of public exhibitions and fundraising campaigns. She currently serves at Hong Kong Red Cross, taking charge of the department to develop fundraising strategies, including driving of fundraising campaigns, enhancement of donor loyalty and relationship building, and to maintain a high standard of accountability to donors.

    Kris is the co-founder of Fleurdot 花點, the Executive Committee Member of TREATS, an independent trainer and the former Executive Director of TREATS. In the past years, she has served in different roles in both large-scale organizations and non-subvented charities and has collaborated extensively with people from different sectors. She has led and launched innovative projects, fundraising and partnership programmes with an impressive growth in funding income, services as well as scale of the organization. In recent years, she serves as an independent consultant to provide training and consultancy services to NGOs, including proposal writing, fundraising strategies, corporate partnership , strategic
    planning and impact assessment.
