4.1 Internal Control – Conducting financial health check
Focus on the practical knowledge and skills for participants who want to manage internal control and financial risk management in their organisaitons. It will focus on relevant topics and the environment in NGO with the use of SWDs’ Lump Sum Grant (LSG) Manual to walk-through and illustrate.

Roles of internal audit
How to set up a risk based internal control system
Monitoring financial risk for projects / activities
4.2 Managing SWD’s Accounting Inspection and Audit of Audit Commission
To focus on the practical management of SWD’s Accounting Inspection and audit of Audit Commission
A practical walk-through of SWD’s Accounting Inspection and management response to SWD’s queries
An overview of the audit of Audit Commission in NGOs
Remarks:
Certificates will be issued by the HKCSS Institute to participants upon successful completion of session(s) enrolled with 80% attendance in total.

Mr. LAM Steve 林志輝先生
BSc (Econ), MBA, FCMA, CPA (Aust), FCPA
Financial Management Consultant
Mr. Steve Lam was previously the Deputy Director (Finance & General Administration) of a local NGO. With his experiences in the financial profession of over 30 years and in the social service organisations, he can provide insights to NGO staff in topics relating to financial management. Prior to joining NGO sector, he had rich experiences in financial and management accounting, financial management and taxation in the commercial sector. Steve is also an experienced trainer in many similar training courses for social work professionals and is a popular speaker in many NGO seminars with topics in relation to financial management. He is now an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration of the Hong Kong University and currently holds the qualifications of Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Management Accountant and Certified Practising Accountant (Australia).

Mr K K Leung has been a partner at Fan, Chan & Co. since 2001, practising CPA, HKICPA, FCCA, LLB(UK), LLB(China). He has over 20 year experience in auditing NGOs, private and public schools, church and commercial sectors. He is well versed in the prevailing accounting and auditing standards and disclosure requirements in connection with NGO's financial statements, and NGO’s specific projects. He is experienced in auditing NGOs of various sizes in Hong Kong.
