簡介

Recently, social marketing has been widely used in health organizations, environmental organizations, government organizations overseas and in international bodies. Aiming to change the behaviors of the public to achieve a better and safer life, they have been introducing social marketing concepts in running their education programmes and activities with their clients and community groups.

When putting our work focus in bringing betterment for our clients, are our current methods effective enough? Social Marketing integrates planning and action framework and utilizes advances in communication technology and marketing skills. In this session, concepts and overseas cases on Social Marketing will be illustrated, and local case studies will be shared.

Prof Joseph Lau holds the positions of Associate Director of the School of Public Health and Primary Care of the CUHK, Head of the Division of Health Improvement, Director of the Centre for Health Behaviours Research and co-Director of the Master Programme on Health Education. He works extensive in research, teaching and consultations on reducing risk behaviors and promoting preventive behaviours and was one of the developers of the Understanding the Adolescent Project. He serves as the Assistant Editor of the international Addiction journal, and provides consultancy to international organizations and Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China.

Ms Jenny Chan has over 20 years’ experience in promoting sexual and reproductive health awareness among women, men, young people and marginal groups through publicity campaigns and community health education projects. The main focus of her work with The Family Planning Association of Hong Kong in recent years include enhancing fertility awareness, encouraging early preparation for parenthood, prevention of unwanted pregnancy, and promotion of sexual and reproduction health among women undergoing menopause.

Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health
Ms Lisa Lau, MH, JP was appointed as Chairman of the Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health (COSH) in 2008. Ms Lau has been leading COSH in many education and publicity campaigns on tobacco control and smoking cessation as well as policy advocacy actions for smoke-fee legislations and raising tobacco tax. She has been invited to present in many international and regional conferences and symposiums on tobacco control in Hong Kong. Apart from her current role as COSH Chairman, Ms Lau also serves on advisory committees on health and youth development.
