NGO Middle Management Development Programme 2025 (NGO 中層管理證書課程 2025)

Introduction

In the face of rapid change and mounting challenges—ranging from resource constraints and operational pressures to persistent talent attrition—today’s NGO middle managers are tasked not only with navigating complexities and prioritising organisational sustainability, but also with inspiring their teams, driving innovation, and fostering resilience amid uncertainty. This interplay of challenges compels us to reimagine the roles of middle management, emphasising the need for visionary, enabling, and collaborative leaders who can drive long-term organisational sustainability essential for continued service delivery.

This comprehensive 4-month learning journey for the NGO Middle Management Development Programme (MMDP 2025) is thoughtfully designed for middle managers with up to 10 years’ managerial experience. Through a progressive curriculum that integrates three interconnected levels—Leading Self (personal growth), Leading Team (team effectiveness), and Driving Impact (organisational impact)—participants will uncover their unique leadership potential, strengthen core leadership capabilities, and broaden perspectives needed to thrive as NGO middle management in today’s dynamic environment.

More than just a leadership development programme, MMDP is a vibrant platform for networking, peer exchange, and community building. By bringing together leaders from diverse backgrounds across services and organisations, the programme nurtures a supportive network, both within and beyond the 4-month programme, for ongoing learning and collaboration. Through group coaching, experiential learning, and wisdom sharing, participants will equip with essential leadership skills and mindset on personal efficacy and people management, enabling them to drive social impact and collectively navigate the sector’s evolving future.

< Learning Modules >

Module 1 – Leading Self: Be a Visionary Leader
A visionary leader inspires their team by providing clear direction, even in times of uncertainty. This module helps participants connect deeply with their strengths and values on a personal level, enabling them to become leaders who can articulate a shared vision and drive their teams toward meaningful goals.

Module 2 – Leading Team: Be an Enabling Leader
In today’s dynamic workplaces, leaders must inspire and enable their teams, rather than simply manage them. This module focuses on facilitating participants to lead dynamic teams and achieve results with and through others while fostering the growth and development of the teams.

Module 3 – Driving Impact: Be a Collaborative Leader
Collaboration is essential for navigating uncertainty and creating lasting impact. This module empowers participants to lead change with confidence, communicate their vision compellingly, and prepare them to shape a more resilient and connected future for their teams and the sector.

Objective

  • Deepen self-discovery of individual strengths, growth areas, and leadership styles—empowering participants to uncover their unique leadership potential and further develop core competencies
  • Broaden leadership skills and mindset to cultivate visionary, enabling, and collaborative leadership—equipping participants to lead teams effectively and proactively support organisational growth and sustainability in a rapidly evolving landscape
  • Foster a collaborative community among NGO middle management from diverse organisations and services—building a dynamic network for peer learning, mutual support, and collective impact across Hong Kong’s social service sector
