From an individual contributor to a people manager, newly promoted supervisor might encounter different kinds of challenges during role transition. New mindset, skill set and attributes would be required to cater for the changing role. How could a newly promoted supervisor enhance personal effectiveness and develop leadership competencies, so as to lead the team to jointly realize the vision of the service unit and the organization? In this fast-changing world, how could we stay agile to respond to changes and make better decision from an organizational perspective?

This 44-hour certificate programme is designed to equip newly promoted supervisors and managers with the needed skills and mindset on personal efficacy and people management to cope with the new managerial role. Apart from in-class learning and interaction, a programme spreading over 3 months will also facilitate participants from different NGOs to build a mutual learning platform and support network outside their organizations and broaden their perspectives in the NGO sector. The diverse background of the participants could allow the middle management to gain different exposure in the sector and enable experience sharing across different services and organizations. Post-programme exchange and experience sharing activities among this group of alumni will be organized to further support learning and personal development of the participants on a long-term continual basis, and at the same time strengthen the affiliation and mutual support network among the peer group.

Leadership and Management Skills for Role Transition

1-on-1 Coaching Session (with individual DISC assessment report)

• Participants will be invited to complete an online DISC assessment and receive an individual assessment report on their DISC behavioral profiling.
• Participants will better understand their own leadership strengths and gaps to compile their own development plan via an one-hour 1-on-1 coaching session.

Buddies and Mutual Support Network Across NGOs

Participants will be formed into groups with peers from a diverse background across different services and organizations. This will enhance exchange of ideas and experience sharing among the peers to broaden their perspectives and exposure in the sector. 

Continuous Learning and Personal Development Platform

Intra- and cross-sectoral talks and experience sharing sessions will be organized during and after programme completion to further support learning and personal development of the participants on a long-term continual basis. Knowledge and practice wisdoms sharing from experienced middle and senior management within and outside the NGO sector will be enhanced and facilitated.
